Our suite of end-to-end foodservice technology solutions helps professionals across healthcare and aging services streamline their operations, save time, reduce food waste, and meet regulatory requirements, so they can focus on what matters most: improving the quality of patient and resident care.

We’re looking for our next experienced Product Owner to join our Product team. Reporting to the Principal, Product Management, you’ll be entering a dynamic and fast-paced environment, working with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, design, build, and roll-out products that deliver the company’s vision and strategy.

As a Product Owner, you will research and documentation of use cases, workflows, and acceptance criteria for new product capabilities, build and maintain a prioritized backlog, define detailed user stories to drive product development, work closely with Engineering, Customer Experience, and Product Managers, and conduct product demonstrations and reviews for stakeholders.

As a key member of our Product team, you will develop deep subject matter expertise in one or more areas of our powerful suite of solutions spanning food service supply chain, dynamic resident data management (e.g. EHR), and culinary operations with point of sale. This knowledge will provide a foundation to support your focused efforts to design systems and user experiences that simplify workflows, improve communications, and optimize operations for our growing customer base. You will regularly lead Agile sprint planning and backlog grooming sessions with developers, QA team members, designers, and other stakeholders, and interact directly with our partners and customers.

This position is ideal for a person with software design experience, or experience in the institutional foodservice and dietary industry and where similar software is used.

A day in the life as a Product Owner:

  • Become an expert on one or more areas of the MealSuite solution, the customers we serve, their operational use cases, and trends in the industry.
  • Gain a deep understanding of customer experience with your areas of the product suite, identify and fill product gaps, contribute new ideas to solve problems and improve customer experiences.
  • Translate feature requirements into detailed, understandable, and actionable user stories for our Engineering team members, and contribute to solution design.
  • Maintain a detailed, groomed backlog, write acceptance criteria, and organize ongoing release plans.
  • Troubleshoot and document product issues communicated by customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze preferences and feature requests of end users and collaborate with Product Managers to evaluate for future development.
  • Perform quality assurance controls on products.
  • Partner with Engineering teams to set sprint goals, follow progress, and address issues during sprints to deliver timely solutions with high customer impact and minimal bugs.

If the below describe your knowledge, experience and character, this role could be for you:

    • Electronic Healthcare Records (EHR) systems and/or EHR-integrated systems.
    • Menu management systems for healthcare clients.
    • Accounting systems and/or supply chains related to the foodservice industry.
    • Inventory management systems and analysis methodologies, with an understanding of profitable procurement practices spanning labor cost, raw food cost, GPOs, rebate programs, and volume purchasing.
    • Point of Sale (POS) systems and related application integrations such as online ordering, kitchen management systems, digital payments, mobile apps, bookkeeping platforms, and reporting.
  • I have experience working in Agile teams and thorough understanding of key methods and practices.
  • I have the ability to work under tight deadlines and produce quality work.
  • I possess strong communication and organizational skills.
  • I am willing to work some evenings or early mornings to accommodate time zone differences among the team.
  • I ideally have formal education and/or experience in Nutrition Science and Dietetics; experience using software related to this knowledge area is also an advantage.
  • I’m willing to occasionally travel and have a valid passport and no travel restrictions that limit my ability to cross the border between Canada and the USA (and Vietnam if required for role).
  • I thrive in an agile environment that is constantly changing and encourages team members to collectively collaborate and communicate
  • I love to be directly involved in projects and initiatives that offer continued learning and endless opportunity to express my ideas and build my leadership skills
